About GrassDx

I'm a veterinarian. I spent years watching lawn care companies show up quarterly, spray something unidentified on a lawn, hand over a bill, and leave. No diagnosis. No soil test. No explanation of what they were treating or why. I started wondering why we accept that level of ambiguity from lawn care when we'd never accept it from medicine.

GrassDx is what I built to fix that. It's a free AI lawn diagnosis tool that identifies what's actually wrong with your lawn from a photo. Upload an image, enter your ZIP code, and get a specific diagnosis — not "you might have a fungal issue" but "this is brown patch, it's triggered by the warm wet nights you've had this week, and here's what to do about it based on your grass type and region."

The diagnostic logic comes from the same pattern-recognition approach I use clinically. Lawn problems are actually pretty diagnosable if you look at the right things — lesion pattern, color, location on the blade, time of year, recent weather, grass species. Most generic lawn care advice ignores half of those variables. GrassDx doesn't.

It covers 47+ conditions including fungal diseases, pest damage, nutrient deficiencies, environmental stress, and weed identification. Diagnoses are localized — what's happening in a Bermuda grass lawn in Texas in August is a different problem than the same symptom in a tall fescue lawn in the Pacific Northwest in October, and the tool knows that.

It's completely free. No account required. No upsell. You upload a photo and get an answer.

I built it because I couldn't find anything like it that actually worked, and because homeowners deserve to know what's wrong with their lawn before spending money trying to fix it.
