The Authentic Age

Period House Renovations and Restoration
Welcome to an advisory service on restoration and alteration of period buildings: Georgian, Victorian, Federation/Edwardian and Inter-War (Californian Bungalow and other 1920s/30s houses).

The Authentic Age is a leading house renovation, restoration, and extension consultant in Victoria, offering advice about period homes throughout Melbourne suburbs and country Victoria. Over years of experience in the restoration of heritage buildings, our company has given valuable input to owners and extension builders engaged in period home renovation and transformation in Victoria, NSW and Tasmania. This includes the restoration of original features, modernising and altering.

The Authentic Age provides an understanding of the key features of such buildings and advice on restoring, modernising, decorating, or furnishing them. The service covers internal and external aspects of the building design from the picket fence and gate to the verandah, façade, walls, roof, floors, plasterwork, lacework, ceiling roses, fireplaces, light fittings and furnishings. Attention to detail is the hallmark of our advice.
We recommend suppliers, tradesmen and other experts who are expert in, and sympathetic to, old buildings. Whether you have a grand mansion or workers cottage, we can assist.

The advice can be comprehensive or limited to specific aspects as required.

Period Style Home Extensions
We can advise on how alterations, and extensions to old houses can be done sympathetically to the style of the building.
